From a Problem to a Platform
The idea for Holisar came from a frustrating experience: one of our founders spent three weeks trying to source medicinal herbs from Humla for a Kathmandu-based ayurvedic company. The herbs existed. The buyers existed. But there was no reliable way to connect them.
We started with a simple question: why is it easier to buy handicrafts from Alibaba than from the craftsperson in Bhaktapur who made them? The answer was a lack of digital infrastructure — no unified catalogue, no trusted payment rails, no communication tools built for B2B trade.
We built Holisar to be that infrastructure. Registered as a private limited company in Nepal, with our engineering team based in Kathmandu and Pokhara, we are fully committed to the long-term growth of Nepal's trading ecosystem.
